Biography

Dr. John Faughnan works in application design and applied health informatics for McKesson Horizon Clinicals. At McKesson his responsibilities include clinical terminologies, clinical knowledge representation, and the design of the knowledge representation infrastructure for McKesson applications. Dr. Faughnan has degrees in Health Informatics from the University of Minnesota, Medicine from McGill University, and Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology. He completed his residency training in family practice at the University of Pennsylvania's Williamsport program and has been awarded fellowships from the National Institutes of Health, Michigan State University, and the Watson Foundation. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice.

Research Interests

John Faughnan MD, MS is a physician informaticist and "industrial ontologist" at McKesson with 15 years of experience in building clinical productivity applications. His current projects focus on the cost-effective application of knowledge representation and knowledge management technologies to increase clinical productivity and quality in personalized medicine and beyond.
