The Center for e-Health and Health Reform was recently established to work directly with the Minnesota Department of Health. Stuart Speedie, Ph.D. and Martin LaVenture, PhD, MPH were named Co-directors of the center.
Dr. Speedie is an IHI Faculty Fellow and Professor in Health Informatics at UMN. Dr. LaVenture is the Director of the Office of Health Information Technology and e-Health at the Minnesota Department of Health and serves as Adjunct Professor in Health Informatics at UMN.
What is the e-Health Initiative?
The Minnesota e-Health Initiative is a public-private collaborative whose vision is to accelerate the adoption and use of health information technology in order to improve health care quality, increase patient safety, reduce health care costs and improve public health. Minnesota has been a leader in pursuing bold e-health policies and applying statutory mandates and governmental funding to accelerate the adoption of HIT, electronic health records and health data standards.
